<p><strong>About [P1]</strong></p><p><br></p><p>[P1] is an organization dedicated to fighting for human life and freedom in Virtual Civilization.</p><p><br></p><p>Virtual Civilization is the state in which physical civilization is eclipsed by its virtual counterpart.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>What We Do</strong></p><p><br></p><p>Just as physical civilization has forms of social organization like capitalism or communism, a new form of social organization is made possible by the interconnectedness of virtual worlds.</p><p><br></p><p>By unearthing the keys of virtual civilization, we put ourselves in a position to impact that civilization with our values of human life and freedom.</p><p><br></p><p>We make virtual experiences and games with the aim of discovering new forms of social organization which may emerge in virtual spaces.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Your Role</strong></p><p><br></p><p>As a volunteer 3D Artist, you choose your own hours and set your own deadlines. We’re seeking someone experienced and passionate to join our team. The successful candidate will create high-quality 3D models, textures, and animations to bring our game worlds to life, collaborating closely with other artists, designers, and developers.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></p><p><br></p><p>You will choose from the following responsibilities:</p><p><br></p><ul><li>Create and develop high-quality 3D assets, including visually pleasing and optimized 3D models, textures, and materials for game characters, environments, and other in-game elements.</li><li>Produce lifelike animations and rigging, ensuring smooth and realistic movement in-game.</li><li>Work closely with the game design team to ensure that the 3D assets and animations enhance the game’s mechanics and overall player experience.</li><li>Optimize 3D assets to meet technical requirements and performance standards, such as polygon count, texture resolution, and level-of-detail optimization.</li><li>Collaborate with programmers to implement custom shaders, visual effects, and other advanced rendering techniques.</li><li>Participate in art reviews and critiques, offering and receiving constructive feedback to refine the quality and consistency of the game’s visuals.</li><li>Stay current with industry trends and techniques, including software tools, 3D rendering methods, and emerging platforms or technologies.</li><li>Organize, maintain, and appropriately document all 3D assets, following our studio’s naming conventions, file organization, and version control protocols.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Why take on this challenge?</strong></p><p><br></p><p>Working with Passionate People: Without money as a motivator, the entire team participates solely because of their passion for making games.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Mentorship</strong></p><p><br></p><p>As an Open Collective, we are eager to mentor and empower those aspiring to break into the industry.</p><p><br></p><p>Our mentors include:</p><p><br></p><p>James Mouat – Game Designer &amp; Director – Ubisoft/EA</p><p>Tim Cotten – Ultima Online Development Lead</p><p>Cal Aurand – Former VP, Sony Music</p>
