<strong><u>Job Description</u></strong><p><br></p>About the Company<p><br></p>Petroleum Development Oman is the leading exploration and production company in the Sultanate of Oman. The Company delivers the majority of the country’s crude oil production and natural gas supply.<p><br></p>Purpose of the Job<p><br></p>This role supports the Ethics &amp; Compliance function in PDO and is essential in ensuring that PDO has and sustains an ethical and compliant culture. The individual in the role provides strategic guidance and will ensure the effective implementation and functioning of the compliance framework, to obtain a step change in the ethics a compliance standard of PDO.<p><br></p>This includes implementing leading practice procedures to ensure that ethics and compliance risks are identified and appropriately mitigated, considering alternative approaches at all times consistent with the Statement of General Business Principles and Code of Conduct.<p><br></p>The Senior Ethics &amp; Compliance Officer will be expected to communicate across the company (including senior management) and its contractors on the topic of Ethics &amp; Behavior. In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for support to operations, and in the application of an effective investigation and compliance process, carrying out Fraud Risk Assessments, GAP Assessments, Root Cause Identification, Controls development, and implementation support, continuous monitoring, and satisfying audit actions, participating in the Defalcation Committee, liaising with the State Audit Institution, providing training to (high risk) staff (including MDC and MDC-1) and the strategic compliance communication plan.<p><br></p>Importantly, this role will also include responsibility as the data privacy focal point for PDO and shall be responsible for the compliance by PDO with the new data privacy law.<p><br></p>Education &amp; Experience<p><br></p><ul><li> Bachelors’ degree in relevant subject (Masters’ preferred).</li><li> Minimum 7 years of work experience in the field of compliance, fraud risk, anti-bribery and/or criminal investigation (including financial crimes) in preferably the energy industry or financial industry.</li><li> Hands-on experience in risk assessment, root cause analysis, gap identification, control development support, policies &amp; procedures and, preferably, investigations.</li><li> Professional Certificate in the field of Compliance, Financial crimes investigations is preferable, as is experience in data privacy.</li></ul><p><br></p>Main Responsibilities<p><br></p><ul><li> Sustaining the ethics and compliance (E&amp;C) culture throughout PDO.</li><li> Developing and implementing a risk-based PDO E&amp;C programme.</li><li> Independently and regularly assessing and reporting on effectiveness of Business E&amp;C programme and recommending appropriate modifications and improvements.</li><li> Working with the PDO assurance team (FFCC) to ensure consistency and efficiency of the compliance effort across PDO.</li><li> Ensure consistent and effective application and implementation of applicable controls, policies and procedures relevant to Compliance, Ethic and Sanction standards in PDO.</li><li> Stay at the forefront of key regulatory change and updates (Local &amp; International) in field of Compliance, FCC and Sanction and ensure proactive communication with relevant business stakeholders.</li><li> More specifically, this individual will be responsible for providing and coordinating ethics and investigation support as follows:</li><li> Run independent risk assessments and co-lead the development of a risk-based compliance programme.</li><li> Educate PDO community about E&amp;B risks, including leading the creation and implementation of a training programme (including content development).</li><li> Build and sustain a relevant external network to setup cross-industry compliance initiatives and effortlessly collaborate with third parties.</li><li> Lead investigations, including setup, terms of reference, case management, reporting and close-out, incident reporting procedures, and reporting out to the Defalcation Committee.</li><li> Ensure processes are in place to identify at risk staff for particular Code of Conduct topics, to invite targeted staff to attend the training, and to record training course completion.</li><li> Consult with relevant teams on effectiveness of consequence management processes and leadership teams on consequence management decisions and consistency.</li><li> Lead pro-active and reactive investigations in response to risk assessments and whistle blower reports.</li><li> Support and coach other team members on ethics and compliance topics in particular investigations.</li></ul><p><br></p><strong><u>Skills Required</u></strong><p><br></p>Other Job Details
