This is a great opportunity to join the largest dedicated pet retailer in the region, with 6 retail stores, a high-volume eCommerce business unit and a mobile app. The business is expanding fast, and this role will help shape the bright future for the business and industry.<p><br></p><strong>Job Brief</strong><p><br></p>The Retail Store Manager plans and directs the day-to-day operations of the store. Develop strategies to improve customer service, drive store sales, increase profitability, create store policies and marketing programs that will increase sales and grow the existing customer base. Maintain high store standards and conditions and foster a positive environment.<p><br></p>Ensure customer needs are met, complaints are resolved, and service is quick and efficient. Ensure all products and displays are merchandised effectively to maximize sales and profitability. Forecast staffing needs and develop a recruiting strategy to provide optimal staffing in all areas.<p><br></p><strong>Responsibilities</strong><p><br></p><ul><li>Complete store operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.</li><li>Prepare annual budget; schedule expenditures; analyze variances; initiate corrective actions.</li><li>Maintain store staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees, planning, monitoring and appraising job results.</li><li>Identify current and future customer requirements by establishing rapport with potential and actual customers and other persons in a position to understand service requirements.</li><li>Ensure availability of merchandise and services by approving contracts, maintaining inventories.</li><li>Formulate pricing policies by reviewing merchandising activities; determining additional needed sales promotion; authorizing clearance sales; studying trends.</li><li>Market merchandise by studying advertising, sales promotion, and display plans; analyzing operating and financial statements for profitability ratios.</li><li>Deal with staffing issues such as interviewing potential staff, conducting appraisals and performance reviews, as well as providing or organizing training and development.<br></li></ul><p><br></p><strong>Requirements</strong><p><br></p><ul><li>Proven experience in a retail store role, should have operated in larger businesses like the corporates in the region.</li><li>Knowledge of performance evaluation metrics and principles.</li><li>Sound understanding of optimization of store operations and standards for success.</li><li>Working knowledge of ERP software.</li><li>Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.</li><li>Excellent organizational and leadership abilities.</li><li>Strong business acumen with a strategic orientation.</li><li>Excellent problem-solving abilities.</li><li>BSc/BA in business administration, retail management or similar field.</li><li>Pet industry preferred but not critical.<br></li></ul>
