<p>We have a urgent requirement for a Senior Unix and Storage Engineer to be based in Muscat, Masqaţ, Oman.</p><p>This is an initial 1 year contract with possible extensions.</p><p><br></p><p>Run operations, performance monitoring and modification of systems and devices related to Unix, Storage &amp; Data Center Backups, Disaster Recovery, system-level security, system provisioning, design solutions, OS updates, and patching and risk mitigation.</p><p><br></p><p>Job Requirements</p><p> · <strong>Strategic</strong></p><p>― Ensure management of latest technology platforms to improve business efficiency and productivity of Datacenter Infrastructure </p><p>― Ensure identified Risks are clearly categorized and necessary corrective steps are recommended and taken up </p><p>― Monitor the performance of servers, Storage and Backup appliances and initiate the corrective and preventive actions to avoid unaccepted incidents</p><p>· <strong>Operational</strong></p><p>― Assess system infrastructure for scalability, functionality and efficiency</p><p>― Primary System Administration tasks covering 350 plus UNIX &amp; Linux ( Oracle Solaris on SPARC, IBM AIX on Power9 Oracle Linux and Redhat Linux) servers located across HO (CBD) &amp; DR (KOM) site Data Centers</p><p>― Knowledge and exposure on configuring and managing multiple virtualization technologies like – Oracle SPARC LDOM, IBM PowerVM/LPAR, VMware, Oracle Linux KVM, etc</p><p>― Primary Storage Administration tasks for the SAN Infrastructure covering Dell EMC (VNX, PowerMAX), IBM (Storwize V5000), Netapp (FAS 2650) and SAN Switches. </p><p>― Ensure the SAN replication for the mission critical applications 24*7 by utilizing technologies such as EMC SRDF, IBM Remote Copy, NetApp Snapmirror, VR/SRM, etc</p><p>― Management of enterprise backup storage, Tape Libraries &amp; Key Manager </p><p>― Technical management of DellEMC Networker and Veeam Backup solutions</p><p>― Assist in analyzing the new IT-related requirements (H/W, Software &amp; web application platforms) and provide Infrastructure consultancy</p><p>― Solution design, review, Hardware/Software procurement based on bank’s project requirements</p><p>― Driving important projects of information security department. </p><p>― Assisting ISO team in the internal and external audits</p><p>― Manage delivery of 24/7 service operations and KPI compliance</p><p>― Design and implement Server hardware &amp; Operating System according to the application team requirement after the final discussion with product vendor</p><p>― Document management such as stacking certifications, policies, compliance matrix, company standard criteria for tendering, confidential memos </p><p>― Support Core Banking Systems, SAN &amp; Unified Storages, Data Center Backup and Data Protection, Disaster Recovery</p><p>· <strong>Organizational</strong></p><p>― Ensure a 99. 9% availability of critical systems components</p><p>― Direct safe operations by complying with the organization’s quality standards, guidelines, policies, procedures and systems.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><strong>Education/ Qualification </strong></p><p><br></p><ul><li>Required: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or any related field.</li><li>Preferred: Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or any related field; IT related certifications</li><li><strong>Experience </strong></li><li>Required: 15+ years of experience in Information Technology and similar fields, out of which 3 years should be in Infrastructure Management</li><li>Preferred: Experience of working in the Banking industry and GCC</li></ul><p> </p><p> </p><p>If you are interested in this opportunity and confident in the position, please send a copy of your CV to richard.downes@ateca.co.uk for immediate consideration and a call for more details.</p>
